Durrant et al. [173] provided new data on beta-secretase as a potential therapeutic target for reducing aberrant angiogenesis in Alzheimer’s disease: in mice expressing human amyloid precursor protein gene, inhibition of beta-secretase normalizes excessive formation of endothelial filopodia and restores Notch signaling. The gene discussed is APP; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
