A study published by Harada et al. demonstrated that two single nucleotide polymorphisms existing at the promoter region of the TSLP gene (rs3806933 and rs2289276) were positively associated with asthma susceptibility in children and adult asthmatics [13], this positive or direct association can be explained as a higher risk of asthma in individuals carrying these SNPs. The gene discussed is TSLP; the disease is asthma.
