FGF2 and Stroke: In a mouse stroke model, endothelial-targeted deletion of the miR-15a/16-1 cluster bound to complementary sequences in the 3’ untranslated region (3’UTR) of mRNA, inhibiting key proangiogenic factors VEGFA, FGF2, and their receptors VEGFR2 and FGFR1, or cerebral angiogenesis was suppressed after stroke [71].
