When analyzing the gender effect, p62 concentrations were found to be significantly different between male FTD patients and male controls (1.17 ± 1.06 ng/mL vs. 0.20 ± 0.41 ng/mL, p = 0.029), and between female FTD patients and female controls (0.61 ± 0.76 ng/mL vs. 0.07 ± 0.29 ng/mL, p = 0.044). The gene discussed is SQSTM1; the disease is frontotemporal dementia.
