Molecular mechanisms such as the renin–angiotensin system (RAS), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)- and hypoxia-related pathways, and oxidative stress (OS) have been implicated in several placenta-associated diseases, such as twin anemia-polycythemia sequence (TAPS), selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR), and preeclampsia (PE). Here, VEGFA is linked to preeclampsia.
