Ang II increased E/e′, an indicator of left ventricular filling pressure, by 41% compared to Control (20.0 ± 0.80 vs. 28.1 ± 1.11, p < 0.01) and co-treatment with MGES prevented this increase as compared to Ang II alone (28.1 ± 1.1 vs. 22.3 ± 2.0, p < 0.05, Figure 2A), suggesting that the extract attenuates hypertension-induced cardiac dysfunction.
