Concerning chronic diseases, such as those derived from cardiovascular and endocrine issues, it has been reported that hospitalized patients with such conditions are more susceptible to contracting and developing more severe cases of COVID-19, especially due to treatments carried out by these patients who react involuntarily on Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), as SARS-CoV-2 infects the body when the spike protein binds to this human protein [50,51]. This evidence concerns the gene ACE2 and COVID-19.
