CFTR and cystic fibrosis: The top 5 were associated with flagellar functions (flagellar hook-associated proteins 1 and 2, flagellar motor switch protein, flagellar secretion chaperone, and flagellar hook-basal body complex protein), which were significantly decreased in Pan-CF mice as compared to Mye-CF, Mac-CF, Neu-CF and WT mice (Fig. 6a), implying that the ubiquitous CFTR loss of function selects for bacteria with weakened flagellar function.
