Cancer cells exhibit the ability to prevent ferroptosis by expressing high levels of SLC7A11, which is regulated by NRF2 [6], SOX2 in lung cancer stem-like cells [7], and YAP/TAZ pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) [8] leading to ferroptosis resistance (Fig. 1).
