In this study, APOC3 protein—which was found to have one of the highest significant differences in the comparison between groups—was upregulated in 88% of patients with early HCC and in 2/28 (7%) cirrhotic patients, whereas APOA2 was found to be expressed in 85% of early HCC patients and in 2/29 (7%) cirrhotic patients. The gene discussed is APOC3; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
