Following a similar rationale, anti-B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) CAR-T cells initially developed against multiple myeloma [64, 65] are currently in a phase I/II clinical study (NCT04146051) using mRNA-transfected T cells to treat myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease in which B cells target the acetylcholine receptor in neuromuscular junctions. This evidence concerns the gene TNFRSF17 and plasma cell myeloma.
