9-HODE and 13-HODE can be synthesized by cyclooxygenase (COX) and 15-lipoxygenase 1(15-LOX 1) from linoleic acid [49, 50], and activation of the 15-lipoxygenase 1/13(S)-HODE axis can promote prostate cancer cell growth through the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway [50].
