Furthermore, TRPA1 is thought to innervate respiratory tract starting from the oral cavity up to respiratory bronchioles, alveolar ducts and alveoli, and its activation leads to pulmonary inflammation, injury, remodelling and sensory symptoms like chronic cough in asthma, COPD, allergic rhinitis, and cystic fibrosis (Mukhopadhyay et al., 2016; Rothenberg et al., 2016).
