The number of VEGFR2-positive cells in cortical areas increased in a few after 6 h and 1 d of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion, and the difference between the number of VEGFR2-positive cells after 6 h and 1 d compared with the control group was not statistically significant (P > 0.05); however, by 3 d, the number of VEGFR2-positive cells increased significantly, and there was a statistically significant difference compared with the control group (P < 0.05). This evidence concerns the gene KDR and brain ischemia.
