By comparing the levels of cholesterol metabolism genes in high-grade glioma (HGG, WHO III-IV) tissues of patients receiving TMZ therapy with OS less than half a year and 5 years (Supplementary Figure S4(a)), we found that the level of NR1H3 (transcribing LXRα) mRNA that mediates cholesterol efflux in patients with longer survival is higher than that with shorter survival. Here, NR1H3 is linked to central nervous system cancer.
