Cardiac involvement by amyloidosis is assessed by: (i) serum levels of cardiac troponin and NT-proBNP, (ii) cardiac imaging with Echocardiography and Cardiac Magnetic Imaging, and (iii) technetium pyrophosphate scintigraphy (PYP scan), a nuclear imaging study with >99% sensitivity and 68% specificity that is mandatory for the differentiation of AL amyloidosis with cardiac involvement from cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis. Here, NPPB is linked to amyloidosis.
