A less studied parameter in this context is interleukin (IL)-10, whose production is stimulated by peptidoglycans of the bacterial cell wall and has been shown in previous studies to be a strong prognostic factor for mortality as well as the bacterial loads in blood of patients with Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteremia (10–13). This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and bacterial infectious disease with sepsis.
