ZBTB33 and cancer: Interestingly, in contrast to Kaiso that is highly expressed in many aggressive cancers (Pierre et al., 2019), ZBTB4 is expressed at low levels in several cancers including colorectal cancer (Weber et al., 2008; Xiang et al., 2020) and is postulated to be a tumor suppressor since it inhibits cell proliferation and induces cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in Ewing sarcoma (Yu et al., 2018).
