FOXP3 and dry age related macular degeneration: Since this mouse model with subretinal inflammation, one of the hallmarks for dry AMD, demonstrated heightened FoxP3 expression and nuclear localization in conjunction with pro-inflammatory cytokine expression, we analyzed retinal sagittal sections from human donors with dry AMD and healthy, age-matched donors using immunohistochemical staining for FoxP3 expression (Fig. 2).
