Chronic inflammation may induce the development of atherosclerosis and arterial thrombosis, and elevation in inflammatory biomarkers (i.e., IL-6 and C-reactive protein) has been reported in various psychiatric disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression (Libby, 2006; Sumner et al., 2020; Miller and Raison, 2016).
