An exciting finding from the subgroup meta-analyses was that the effect of dietary intake of protein from fish had the most marked effect in the subgroup consisting of genetically rodents which spontaneously develop hypertension after birth (i.e. the leptin-resistant Zucker fa/fa rats and the leptin-deficient ob/ob mice) and rodents fed diets enriched with cholesterol alone or in combination with cholate. This evidence concerns the gene LEP and hypertensive disorder.
