SLC2A5 and cancer: Increased expression of SLC2A5 has been associated with disease progression, increased metastasis, and an unfavorable prognosis of several types of cancers including cervical cancer, renal carcinoma, lung carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, endometrial cancer cells, and pancreatic cancer (Zamora-Leon et al., 1996; Chen et al., 2016; Bu et al., 2018; Hamann et al., 2018; Weng et al., 2018; Jin et al., 2019; Lin et al., 2021) (Supplementary Figure S1A).
