In studies with SHSY5Y cells, GAPDH inhibition with CGP3466B or heptilidic acid did not inhibit the formation of LC3-II (24), the cleaved and lipidated form of LC3 (80), but suppressed the degradation of the autophagosome target p62/SQSTM1, suggesting that GAPDH is not needed for the signaling pathways that initiate autophagy but is needed autophagic degradation in neuroblastoma. The gene discussed is GAPDH; the disease is neuroblastoma.
