AFP and hepatocellular carcinoma: As noted in Table 4 and Figure 5, the ASAP score demonstrated a better ability to distinguish AFP-negative HCC from HCV controls than the GALAD score (AUC of ASAP = 0.815 vs. AUC of GALAD = 0.764, P < 0.01) in the subgroups of patients with HCV-HCC; in fact, the sensitivity was 59.4% versus 73.9% and the specificity was 89.6% versus 70.0%.
