The alleles of the four BMD-related genetic signals that associated with increased hip fracture risk were all associated with decreased femoral neck BMD (ETS2, SALL1, and HOXC8) and/or decreased estimated BMD by ultrasound in the heel (ETS2, SALL1, and REST) but not with risk of falls or Alzheimer’s disease (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene HOXC8 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
