GLP1R and type 2 diabetes mellitus: In an RCT of the dual GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist tirzepatide (5, 10, and 15 mg once weekly) vs semaglutide 1 mg once weekly as add-on therapy to metformin in patients with type 2 diabetes, reductions in body weight at week 40 were greater at all 3 evaluated doses of tirzepatide compared with semaglutide [26].
