Another meta-analysis based on the randomized controlled trials of eltrombopag and avatrombopag (the only TPO-RAs receiving approval for treating CLD with thrombocytopenia in China) showed that the occurrence of portal vein thrombosis in patients having been administered eltrombopag or avatrombopag was notably higher relative to the placebo (OR = 3.36, 95% CI 1.07–10.59, p = 0.038), indicating that the above TPO-RAs are associated with portal vein thrombosis, which might bring potential negative effects for CLD patients in clinical application [24]. This evidence concerns the gene TPO and Portal vein thrombosis.
