Most importantly, we were able to show, in cells derived from cervical cancers, that HPV-16 E7 can interact strongly with the AP2 complex, indicating that the interaction does, indeed, occur in vivo and, furthermore, that phosphorylation of E7 by CKII enhances its association with AP2-μ2, as has been observed for other classical cargoes of the AP2 complex (21, 44, 45). This evidence concerns the gene CSNK2A1 and cervical carcinoma.
