Notably, genetically higher levels of plasma TFPI were not only associated with a lower risk of stroke, but also a lower risk of other diseases involving the circulatory system (cerebrovascular disease, other disorders of arteries), metabolic traits (hyperlipidemia and hypercholesterolaemia, disorders of lipid metabolism) and digestive system disorders (acute gastritis); however, they were also associated with a higher risk of excessive or frequent menstruation. Here, TFPI is linked to gastritis.
