We first examined the potential antiviral role of IFNAR2 in vitro, by comparing the ability of primary fibroblasts isolated from WT and IFNAR2−/− fetuses to inhibit the replication of ZIKV, a zoonotic flavivirus that can infect both humans and animals and cause a variety of neurological diseases (Song et al., 2017; Yun and Lee, 2017). Here, IFNAR2 is linked to nervous system disorder.
