A sub‐population of glioblastoma‐EVs were isolated from the peripheral blood by immunoaffinity targeting of the oncogenic variant protein, EGFR/EGFRvIII, which showed 94% tumour‐EV specificity (Reategui et al., 2018), while microarrays functionalised with antibodies to colorectal cancer cell surface proteins allowed the capture of colorectal cancer LIM1215‐EVs owing to a 70.6% (24/34) overlap in LIM1215 cell surface antigen expression (Belov et al., 2016). The gene discussed is CD53; the disease is colorectal cancer.
