Blood levels of S100A12 are elevated in patients with diabetes [204], coronary artery disease [205], and psoriasis [1], and this protein is also used as a biomarker to detect other inflammatory diseases such as systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis [206] or acute infectious exacerbations common in cystic fibrosis [196]. The gene discussed is S100A12; the disease is cystic fibrosis.
