Complementary to these findings, the same research group synthesized several phenyl and pyrazoline lupeol derivatives through C3 and C19 chemical modulation (Lup 8–11) that showed strong inhibitory effects against protein tyrosine phosphatase-1B (PTP-1B), a novel target protein for the development of type 2 diabetes medication. The gene discussed is PTPN1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
