IGFBP-2 is the principal IGFBP in foetal plasma and after uterine artery ligation a strong increase in the concentration of IGFBP-2 has been observed and this mimics the rise in IGFBP-1 and IGFBP-2 levels seen in human IUGR [34]. This evidence concerns the gene IGFBP1 and fetal growth restriction.
