NFKB1 and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome: Finally, studies of the pathological and physiological effects of intermittent hypoxia in OSAHS identified two molecular pathways: a nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB)-dependent inflammatory pathway, which produces inflammatory cytokines, and a hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1)-dependent adaptive pathway [30,31,32].
