Using the Infinium 450 K DNA methylation platform, women with a self-reported diagnosis of periodontitis (who presented with positive dental traits for gingival bleeding and tooth mobility) showed hypomethylated states of the ZNF804A (cg21245277; beta = −0.33, p-value = 7.17 × 10−8, FDR = 0.03) and XKR6 genes (cg11051055; beta = −0.49, p-value = 1.53 × 10−8, FDR = 0.003), respectively. Here, ZNF804A is linked to Gingival bleeding.
