It is well known that obesity originates from an imbalance between fat synthesis and lipid decomposition that promotes adipose tissue expansion, and fat synthesis can be regulated by a variety of proteins, such as SREBP-1C and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs), among which PPAR-γ is of great importance for numerous biological processes including preadipocytes adipogenic differentiation, glycolipid metabolism and inflammation reactions [63]. Here, SREBF1 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
