These data reinforce the notion of the plausible beneficial effect of the SADI-S against obesity due to increased WAT browning, rather than increased BAT activity, as evidenced by the reduced Ucp1 and Ucp3 gene expression levels as well as by the increased UCP1 protein levels in SCWAT. The gene discussed is UCP3; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
