Activation of the pathway of currently best known inflammasome-NLRP3 (NOD-like receptor family, pyrin domain-containing 3; a cytoplasmic high-molecular-weight protein platform) is enhanced in skin lesions of patients suffering from HS, leading to increased expression of several inflammatory mediators, such as interleukin IL-1β, IL-17, caspase-1, S100A8, and S100A9 [16,17]. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is histiocytic sarcoma.
