Previous studies of PTC epidemiology report BRAFV600E mutations present in 40–60% of PTC cases [52,53], although after reclassification separating the follicular variant PTC (FVPTC) from classical PTC (cPTC), Yoo et al. found 71.4% of cPTC harbored BRAF mutations and more aggressive phenotypes compared to other subtypes [54].
