In a model of cancer pain (osteolytic fibrosarcoma cells in the calcaneus bone), we found that non-neuronal cells release Wnt3a, which triggers DRG neurons via non-canonical pathways enhancing the membrane translocation of P2X purinoceptor 3 (P2X3) and TRPV1 receptors [28]. This evidence concerns the gene WNT3A and cancer.
