EphB2 and ephrinB2 are upregulated in the enteric nervous system, especially in the colonic nerves in patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) [149], and in a rat model of IBS where the intensity of visceral hypersensitivity characteristic of IBS correlated positively with the upregulation of ephrin signaling [149]. The gene discussed is EFNB2; the disease is irritable bowel syndrome.
