To test the robustness and reliability of this new method, we performed it on 64 patient samples, with 20 patients suffering from spindle cell sarcoma not otherwise specified (NOS) and 44 patients suffering from synovial sarcoma, which are characterized by the chromosomal translocation involving SS18 and either SSX1, SSX2, or rarely SSX4 [9]. The gene discussed is SS18; the disease is synovial sarcoma.
