(+/-)5(6)-EET has been shown to have biological effects such as vasodilatory, anti-inflammatory and sodium-urea effects, as well as to stimulate insulin and glucagon secretion from an isolated pancreas [38], increase insulin sensitivity and lower blood pressure in rats, and increasing (+/-)5(6)-EET levels improved insulin sensitivity and reduced diabetes-related cardiovascular and renal damage.
