Oocyte‐specific knockout of inhibitors of these pathways, such as Forkhead box O3 (FOXO3a), phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN), ribosome protein S6 (RPS6) and tuberous sclerosis 1/tuberous sclerosis 2 (TSC1/TSC2), led to global activation of all primordial follicles, which inevitably caused depletion of the primordial follicle pool and premature ovarian failure (POF).7, 8, 9. The gene discussed is FOXO3; the disease is primary ovarian failure.
