CD8A and neoplasm: Wang et al. (2019) found that CD8+ T cells enhanced ferroptosis-specific lipid peroxidation in tumor cells. In this study, we found that a high mRNA level of HIF1A (a ferroptosis suppressor) and a low mRNA level of PTEN (a ferroptosis driver) positively correlate with CD8+ T cell infiltration, implying that a ferroptosis resistance mechanism exists in the tumor microenvironment of SKCM, and it is expected that the induction of ferroptosis in tumor cells by enhancing the function of CD8+ T cells is expected to be an effective intervention to promote tumor therapy.
