In a study of AML by Amany Almars et al., a newly discovered protein, FLYWCH1, was identified as a negative regulator of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway; FLYWCH1 was found to directly bind to nuclear β-catenin, and when it was highly expressed, it suppressed the expression of c-myc, CyclinD1 and c-Jun, downstream target genes of Wnt/β-catenin signalling, while blocking cells in G0 phase [71]. Here, FLYWCH1 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
