NLRP6 knockout mice were found to have less bacterial burden in the lungs or BALF and show less severe lung injury in response to different bacterial infection, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella typhimurium and Streptococcus pneumoniae [8, 20, 27]. Here, NLRP6 is linked to bacterial infectious disease.
