NFKB1 and melanoma: We contributed to the understanding of the role of extracellular acidosis on lymphangiogenesis, demonstrating that exposure of melanoma cells to low pH (6.7 ± 0.1) promoted the NF-kB-mediated induction of lymphangiogenic growth factor C (VEGF-C) [68], known to be expressed by several aggressive human melanoma cell lines in vitro [69].
