Tenascin-C is an ECM glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in cell proliferation and tumor invasion in various cancers.35,36 Tenascin-C is a major protein overexpressed in both cancer cells themselves and the surrounding fibroblasts (CAFs).36,37Although several studies have reported that upregulated expression of tenascin-C in both cancer cells and CAFs is associated with a poor prognosis, the mechanisms whereby tenascin-C leads to shorter survival remain to be clarified in CRC.38 Here, TNC is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
