In vitro evidence suggested that stimulation of AGTR1 by angiotensin II drives VEGF-A secretion in mTORC1-activated, TSC2-deficient angiomyolipoma cells, leading to increased cell proliferation, which was shown to be blocked by valsartan, an AGTR1 inhibitor (22). The gene discussed is TSC2; the disease is angiomyolipoma.
